How to add a colour wash to your images https://www.wandalach.com/blog/2016/9/how-to-add-a-colour-wash-to-your-images I have gone back to Photoshop and have been examining the various filters to add something different to some of my images.

What I wanted to do was to add a colour wash. I found this on Lynda.com - a good source of video tutorials for almost everything to do with photography

The Wind of Change https://www.wandalach.com/blog/2016/9/the-wind-of-change The wind is howling tonight. Things are rattling and shaking, the wind screeches through every nook and cranny. If I close my eyes I can feel the wind blowing from behind, blowing my hair in front of my face. I lean back to balance myself against the wind.

It's not really the wind that I am thinking about. It's the enormous rush of life, it's anxieties, troubles, worries, issues and neverending ugly, sad and plain downright awful and messy problems.

The list is endless... Barrier Reef; CSG; selling off Australian land; destruction of old growth forests; global warming; suicidal farmers; incredibly stupid polititians; extermination of brumbies; refugees; zika virus......

It's Sodom and Gomorrah.... just don't look back at the world... keep walking forward - eyes to the front.

What are the 7 cardinal sins?  hubristic pride, greed, lust, malicious envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth.  The world is full of it.

There are 7 virtues too: prudence, justice, temperance, courage, faith, hope and charity. The world is not full of these.

How to deal with this stuff swamping my head.... make a cup of tea, select a favourite biscuit, cuddle up in a warm blanket and watch something soothing.

Now if the wind would just comply and stop howling all would be ok...

apropos the movie...'The Hours'... well, it wasn't something soothing of course.  I've watched it a few times and it is always as strange as the first time I watched it.   I have the book but have never read it, maybe I should?

Photography Tips https://www.wandalach.com/blog/2016/9/photography-tips I have subscribed to so many photography sites that I've lost count.  There is so much information out there about every aspect of photography that it is overwhelming.

Same goes for e-books.  I collect these and store them on my tablet.  They make good reading when you are waiting for an appointment or travelling somewhere (as a passenger, of course!).

Over the years I have collected so many links, e-books, information websites, tutorial and newsletters, free and paid for,  that I could start my own photography information site.

So, why not.... I will be posting on my blog an information sheet covering various aspects of photography. The information sheets will be in point form to help you focus on what is important to help you improve your photography skills. I will post a new one each week.  Each week I will post what the following week's subject will be.

I think what could be of interest is to check what the subject will be on the following week's information sheet; go and take a photo like you normally would (of something that will be relevant to that week's sheet); study the information sheet when it gets posted; go back and take the same or similar photo again, only this time using the information you have been given.  Examine your before and after photos  and see if the information helped you to improve your image.

Feedback will be welcome.

I will look into setting up a FB page so that anyone who wants to can post their before and after photos with relevant comments.

Until next week...

Waiting for your computer to catch up. https://www.wandalach.com/blog/2016/8/waiting-for-your-computer-to-catch-up (Wanda Lach) https://www.wandalach.com/blog/2016/8/waiting-for-your-computer-to-catch-up Sun, 28 Aug 2016 12:25:03 GMT Welcome to a new website https://www.wandalach.com/blog/2016/3/welcome-to-a-new-website I have now tried a few different website builders.  Some don't allow enough freedom and others are way too complicated.

Zenfolio at a basic level seems to be ok so far but as I do love to change and modify things until they suit me exactly I know that I will probably come unstuck at some point. I just hope that it is easy to go back to a previous version when I do manage to make a mess of it!
